Riders want more transit, but it will be a while for service changes including the Circle Line and possible extensions to the Orange and Red Lines according to Tuesday's "Going Public." Those projects are all in the first phase of a five-step process the CTA must complete before requesting mass transit moola from the federal government to put them in motion.

Newbie riders are invading the CTA this summer due to a number of factors including rising gas prices and service improvements, according to the CTA and letters in the "Going Public" inbox. Columnist Kyra Kyles decided to help smooth out the CTA squeeze by offering inexperienced riders tips on mass transit manner- such as having their fare prepared and steering clear of doors. Riders expressed their own ideas about bus and "L" etiquette, and some offered opinions on other issues affecting the...

Do you want to showcase your CTA style without looking like a clueless transit tourist? You're in luck. On Tuesday, "Going Public" columnist Kyra Kyles highlighted cool and subtle CTA couture from local designers. Styles include "That's My Stop" T-shirts, CTA earrings and limited edition sneakers with system maps on the soles. Check them out, and weigh in on whether you'd wear them, on Kyra's daily CTA sound-off zone at redeyechicago.com/ctablog.

What's worse than waiting for CTA buses? Waiting for the CTA Bus Tracker to include your route. At least that's what some riders are telling "Going Public" columnist Kyra Kyles, who on Tuesday shed light on how the CTA decides which routes will go live on the system. Riders responded with their own opinions about the value of Bus Tracker currently operating on 52 CTA routes and weighed in on other mass transit topics.
